The European EdTech Alliance was a proud partner of the second edition of the EIT EdTech Conference 2025 hosted in Brussels on 30 October 2025.

The event brought together leaders from the European Commission, OECD, EIT Community, and across the European EdTech ecosystem to reimagine the future of learning through a distinctly European lens.

Inspiring discussions centred on the responsible use of AI, the role of ethics in digital education, and the urgent need for sustainable public–private collaboration. As Antoaneta Angelova-Krasteva reminded participants, Europe’s digital sovereignty depends on who controls the platforms shaping young minds.

Representing the European EdTech Alliance, Jannie Jeppesen and Jitske van Os contributed powerful insights on the importance of transparent business models, funded collaboration between science, schools, and startups, and the shared responsibility required to strengthen Europe’s innovation ecosystem. Michelle DuQuette, Beth Havinga, and Tobias Himmerich highlighted key initiatives that the EEA is driving and presented some fundamental facts about the European EdTech Innovation Ecosystem.

The Demo Zone within the event also provided an excellent opportunity for the EEA to showcase the EmpowerED project with consortium members from European Schoolnet and the Flemish Ministry of Education joining us as well. Participants were able to learn about the project and share their insights on the upcoming EmpowerED roadmap via an engaging Lego activity.

In the afternoon of the event featured the Co-Creation Labs, with EEA colleagues Jitske van Os, Michelle DuQuette, Beth Havinga, and Tobias Himmerich leading conversations on topics including ecosystem building, AI and EdTech innovation. The dynamic workshop brought together small groups of engaged attendees to contribute ideas, challenges and solutions which will be compiled in the final event report, to be shared by the event organisers very soon.

A big thanks to the EIT team for organising a great event that the EEA was proud to be a supporting partner - learn more about EIT and future editions of the event here >
