Connecting a new European Edtech Community for Exchange & Collaboration

Financed by the European Commission, EmpowerED is a consortium of 11 European Partners working together to advance the EdTech ecosystem for better learning and to support closer collaboration.

EmpowerED aims to establish a pan-European network and platform for exchanges between European EdTech initiatives, support organisations, practitioners, and policymakers. EmpowerED maps the EdTech landscape in Europe, provides insight into trends linked to new schooling models and innovative education solutions, and offers training and capacity-building opportunities. The project helps consolidate and amplify current EdTech organisations' work and will directly support start-ups and SMEs. EmpowerED will create a thriving EdTech ecosystem for better learning across the EU.

We are a key partner in the three-year project, leading efforts to expand the European Edtech map, develop 'State of Play' reports and leverage existing Edtech ecosystems for new exchange and dialogue in Europe. The EEA is also guiding creating a community strategy to connect under-represented Edtech groups and develop new engaging collaboration formats

Long sales cycles. Small teams. Gender gaps in funding. These aren’t exceptions in EdTech - according to our research they are the norm. Yet too often, funding models fail to reflect these realities of building and scaling an EdTech company.

At the same time, fragmented procurement processes, a lack of testbeds, and limited access to reliable market data continue to stifle innovation. They slow down validation and make scaling across markets harder than it should be.

Are you an EdTech organisation facing these or other challenges?

Through the EU-funded EmpowerED project, we’re working to shift the conversation, advocating for funding mechanisms that understand the specific needs of the sector and support diverse, resilient EdTech founders.

We are compiling a final report (due later this year) that will inform the next Digital Europe Programme of the European Commission and include recommendations directed at policymakers from across Europe.

Your voice can shape the future of EdTech in Europe.
