SETT Stockholm: Nordic Testbeds Panel Discussion
On 8 April, the European EdTech Alliance team joined our EmpowerED colleagues at SETT in Stockholm to moderate a dynamic panel discussion on quality assurance of digital learning tools in the Nordics.
Michelle DuQuette, community strategist for the European EdTech Alliance, moderated the 45-minute collaborative conversation about how Nordic countries are working with quality assurance of digital learning tools.
Speakers joined us from Finland and Sweden and spotlighted a series of projects from across the Nordic region including:
Antti Värtö from Business Helsinki, who presented the innovative mobile learning environment, the EdTech testbed TEKLA
Anna Åkerfeldt presented iFous, an independent research institute dedicated to advancing education in Sweden
Susan Henriksson highlighted the Swedish EdTest platform, the Swedish national testbed for digital learning resources
Stojanka Drinic showcased her unique perspective as a principal at Östermalm School in Stockholm
Björn Runow highlighted Magma Math, a platform designed to support teachers to make more informed instructional decisions in the classroom
Examples from several Nordic countries were highlighted to showcase collaborative arenas, often referred to as testbeds, where EdTech companies, teachers, and researchers come together.
Each of the panelists presented a short presentation followed by insights on:
Why are these arenas important, and in what ways do they add value?
Learning and teaching: How can we ensure that learning tools are technically robust and aligned with teachers’ needs and proven pedagogical practices
Challenges and opportunities: Address key obstacles such as funding and political support and explore potential pathways for future growth.
Thank you to the SETT organisers for inviting EmpowerED to participate in this engaging panel discussion with such insightful speakers!
