Supporting Ukraine’s EU Accession: Chapter 26 on Education and Culture

On 30 April 2025, Ukraine successfully completed its official screening under Chapter 26 of the EU accession negotiations, which focuses on education, training, youth and culture. According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the process was comprehensive and effective.

To support this milestone, European EdTech Alliance Chairwoman Jannie Jeppesen participated in two days of expert mock sessions held in Brussels. These meetings were designed to help the Ukrainian delegation prepare for its bilateral discussion with the European Commission. Jeppesen, alongside other European experts, provided analytical input and peer feedback to strengthen the clarity and coherence of Ukraine’s presentation.

The Ministry acknowledged the role of the expert group, noting the importance of international cooperation in ensuring a robust, evidence-based demonstration of alignment with EU legislation, including in digital learning and education system reform.

This engagement is consistent with EEA’s focus on peer-based expertise sharing in policy and system-level education processes across Europe.
